I used this Samsung Update software to DOWNLOAD ALL CURRENT DRIVERS. This came branded with software from Samsung and misc others. My 1st attempt to reload the operating system from the Recovery DVD actually turned out to be a recovered system image from a hidden volume on the laptop. until I eventually interrupted the failed bootups with a Safe mode option. However the same problem happened (the laptop) failed to restart and went into a attempted repair mode and then offered a restore option.
